Scott Knight, Aka Skot Biscuit.

Scott Knight has been carving for almost half a century now, Often carving skulls, not for the macabre, but for the mirror they offer. He carves various materials from the natural to the industrial.

The artist states 'My skull carvings are portraits of lives once lived, I don’t see them as morbid or dead, I see them as human beings in their eternal form. We wear faces, I whittle them down to their essence. I carve as a way of studying what endures,

Wood, stone, teeth, amber and bone each carry their own memory. I work with the material’s natural forms, growth rings, fractures, cracks, and holes, leaving them as nature created them. Everything I carve already exists beneath the surface, I merely uncover what was always there'.

The pieces in this exhibition reflect my two greatest passions: Memento Mori skull craft and the Neolithic stone traditions of my ancestors. I have spent decades exploring these worlds and the human response to my art in this modern world fascinates me most.

My Art is based around the study of natural and tactile shapes, focusing on form and function in nature. I find the pieces that we leave behind deeply fascinating, the bones, the stones, the pieces of us that are the essence of Humanity. Art and Bones may be all that remains when all else has passed.
