Jon Link is one half of Modern Toss, the profane and artful British cartoon series — for nearly 20 years Modern Toss artwork has been acquired by collectors worldwide.

Their cartoons and animations feature regularly in Private Eye, The Guardian, New Scientist, The Idler, Channel 4 and the BBC. Prior to Modern Toss, Link designed record sleeves and magazines.

“I’ve spent nearly 20 years drawing thousands of little cartoon heads, each of which takes between 1.5 and 2 seconds to complete and are approximately 5mm in diameter”.

In the Summer of 2021, Whistleblower Gallery exhibited what was to become Link’s successful start to his career as a solo artist, miles away from any references to his work as half of Modern Toss - he delighted us with a stunning body of work featuring human heads, painstakingly drawn, one

line at a time.

“I gave myself a break and decided to work on some drawings of heads that were the complete opposite. These took days rather than seconds and were on a big scale.”

Now he returns with a new collection.

“I’ve been drawing a lot of lines over the winter, and I’m very excited to show some of them here in BAR WORK. These drawings represent the work produced since my last exhibition NIBHEADZ (Whistleblower Gallery, 08.07.21 - 08.08.21). Building out from the world of heads, abstracting away from features, creating surface, pattern, environment and atmosphere.”

Whistleblower Gallery is proud to present a new beautiful selection of original works, hand-drawn in Japanese Sumi ink and acrylic ink and two Limited Editions.

BAR WORK is on show until April 27th, 2023.
