Description
This beautifully carved rosewood block depicts The Meigle Mermaid. This original traditional printing block has been intricately hand-carved using hammer and chisel into a block of rosewood, then inked up and used to print onto paper and fabric. It has then been inked up one final time.
 
Treubhan’s work explores traditional Pictish customs and storytelling.
The Meigle Mermaid is an early medieval stone carving of a mermaid with a split tail, located on a Pictish cross-slab at the Meigle Museum in Perthshire, Scotland.
 
Treubhan’s work is celebrated for its deep respect for tradition and stunning execution. From his tattoo art to his illustrations, this piece is a beautiful example of his original work. We are very lucky to have his original work available for sale.
