Description
This is an original first-edition Keith Haring sticker. This is the first ever Radiant Baby sticker from the artist’s Pop Shop in New York. The first edition of the Radiant Baby was produced on silver foil, while later editions appeared on holographic foil.
The Radiant Baby is one of Haring’s most iconic images. First appearing on the streets as chalk drawings in the New York subway and on walls of his home, studio and the streets. Haring frequently used the image alongside his signature, making it one of the most repeated motifs in his portfolio.
This example is a ‘die-cut’ (or kiss-cut) sticker, still on its original backing with its surround intact. A superb piece of artist’s ephemera.
 
The history of its ownership is great. A close Brighton friend and major collector, Syd, gifted the gallery part of his street art ephemera collection when he began thinning it out. In exchange for bespoke framing, we received a selection of pieces, including Banksy stickers, cards and what nots as well as some Haring stickers.
Syd visited Keith Haring at his Pop Shop in the early 1980s, where these stickers were picked up on a visit to see the artist He also attended several of Haring’s exhibition openings and spent time with him in some of the New York clubs that the artist frequented in downtown Manhattan. We once framed for Syd a stunning set of signed Polaroids from one of those nights out, which now hang proudly amongst his vast collection of world art, built up over fifty years. Thanks, Syd.
