This is a unique, one-of-a-kind original by Ryan Callanan and part of his 'MEGA' series, a truly monumental piece. Every so often, the artist pushes the boundaries of his practice to create a singular work that will never be remade due to its complexity and scale. MEGA SKULL is one such creation. Callanan has pushed his studio to the limit to bring this striking work to life.
MEGA SKULL explores classic depictions of the human skull, with a subtle nod to 1980s cartoons. The visible crack is a tribute to the ghost of Mumm-Ra a rare and fleeting character in the series.
Constructed from screen-printed acrylic on high-density foam, with enamel-painted teeth, this remarkable piece is presented in a bespoke chunky frame.
