Description
How do you describe this in a short paragraph? This is an early piece of work by Hartnoll that shows his incredible versatility as an artist, painter and image maker. This is an original needlepoint by the artist and demonstrates his incredible skills not only in thread work but also in his ability to use and play with colour, as well as some of his interest in the formation of grids within his practice. The choice of a painted pink ground beneath the stitching allows the artist to play with the underpainting with incredible skill.
Goth Laura was one of the artist’s models from his earlier life drawing sessions. She is shown here “glitching out”, with areas of the stitching absent in places and a sense of digital glitching slowly creeping into the image.
