Three Eyed Face - Green Neon
 
Description
This is an original first-edition Keith Haring sticker. This is his neon green three-eyed face from the artist’s Pop Shop in New York. Two versions were produced: one on green stock and the other on pink.
The three-eyed face, alongside Haring’s radiant baby, became one of his most recognisable motifs, a bold, simple image repeated throughout his portfolio. Like many of Haring’s iconic works, it could be found as graffiti on walls, streets, and across the New York subway system.
This example is a die-cut sticker and, unlike others of its type, it still has its original neon sidebar and backing intact, showing it has never been used. It is a wonderful piece of the artist’s ephemera.
 
The history of its ownership is equally interesting. A close Brighton friend and major collector, Syd, gifted the gallery part of his street art ephemera collection when he began thinning it out. In exchange for some bespoke framing, we received a selection of pieces, including Banksy stickers and cards, as well as these Haring stickers.
Syd had visited Keith Haring at his Pop Shop in the early 1980s, where these stickers were picked up on a visit to see the artist. He even attended some of Haring’s exhibition openings and spent time with him in several of the New York clubs frequented by the downtown art scene. Syd had us frame up a stunning set of signed Polaroids from one of those nights out, which now hang amongst his vast collection of world art, gathered over fifty years. Thanks, Syd.
This sticker comes with its original backing and side strip.
