Title

The Languages of the Walls (Electric)

Year

2017

Description

First of two paintings made of a series Stanley Donwood is currently working on. The Languages of the Walls are inspired partly by the photographs of Parisian graffiti taken by Brassaï, and partly by the eroded walls of buildings in war zones or those that have been damaged by flooding or fire. They are intended to serve as palimpsests of damaged ideas, and are usually painted over existing paintings by the artist himself.
