Title
History Is A Weapon
Year
2015
Description
History is a Weapon was produced as part of a dyptic installation to be shown alongside Power To The People at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London UK, for the Disobedient Objects exhibition in 2014/2015.
This piece is covered in hand-made transfers. Photographs of public protest are fired onto hand-coloured tiles and hint at the strong public opposition to current and historical government policy.
Both panels were selected to be displayed on the outside of the building for public view. The curators for Disobedient Objects, Gavin Grindon and Catherine Flood, chose the quotes from Carrie as messages the museum wanted to promote. The exhibition, according to Catherine Flood, was one of the best attended shows of work that the V&A have put on since the Britain Can Make It show in 1946.
