Another stunning example of Carne's most recent work produced exclusively for the opening of our gallery in Brighton. This is a portrait study of the King in military regalia and a nod to the artist's background as an embroidery designer. Carne enjoys recreating historical photographs and re-imagining them in a contemporary sense, creating an atmosphere of mistery and a transient feel. For this delicate and beautifully executed original, Carne has used ink and tea with acrylic and 24ct gold leaf on a 535gsm bockingford watercolour paper with hand-torn edges.
