Working under the name daft-apeth, Sergio Pizzorno has developed a visual practice that transforms the familiar imagery of everyday Britain into bold, playful and often deeply personal works. Drawing on memories of growing up in Leicester during the 1980s, his paintings, sculpture and mixed-media works explore the visual language of branding, popular culture and the overlooked objects that quietly shape our collective memory.

Rather than presenting nostalgia as sentiment, daft-apeth dissects it. Arcade machines, television graphics, milk bottle tops, comic characters, advertising slogans and fragments of overheard conversation are lifted from everyday life and reassembled into a new visual vocabulary. Humour runs throughout the work, balancing moments of personal reflection with an affectionate observation of British culture.

Working across painting, sculpture, printmaking, found objects and installation, Pizzorno approaches each material with the same curiosity and freedom that characterise his songwriting. Ideas move easily between media, allowing the work to evolve instinctively while remaining rooted in a distinctly British experience. East Midlands colloquialisms, working men's clubs, after-school television, Ceefax pages and the graphic confidence of 1980s branding all find their place within an expanding body of work that feels both intimate and widely recognisable.

Although best known internationally as the creative force behind Kasabian and later The S.L.P., daft-apeth has established itself as a significant artistic practice in its own right. Since his debut exhibition in London in 2018, the work has continued to develop through solo exhibitions and collaborations, reflecting an ongoing fascination with memory, identity and the visual culture that surrounds us. Whether working with paint, print, sculpture or found materials, daft-apeth celebrates the overlooked with wit, curiosity and an unmistakable sense of play.
