Title
Iron Age Silver Torc decorated with La Tène patterns
Year
-
Description
Looking to this country’s Iron Age roots, Parry has meticulously crafted this sterling silver torc. The piece draws inspiration from historical artefacts dating from around 450 BC to 1 BC, when the culture of the time reflected the wider pre-Roman European world, with its heart in ancient Gaul.
Much of the stunning patterning and decoration from this era is associated with the La Tène style, named after the site on the northern shore of Lake Neuchâtel in Switzerland, where a wealth of objects has been discovered.
This work both references and is deeply inspired by those historical finds.
